Off the Pitch Media teams up with Pleece & Co

We are delighted to announce the partnership between Off the Pitch Media and Pleece & Co. With our expertise in producing digital sports content and our newest team-mate’s vast experience in delivering strategy, design and marketing, our aim is to join forces to offer the complete package to companies within the sports industry.

More Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee, than Coca-Cola & Costa, this working relationship, which was first established through our love of sport (what else), is a simple way of offering our clients more. 

When Dan & I (Sam) set-up Off the Pitch Media (OTP) last summer we were confident our content producing experience would see us meet the right people to help us succeed. Dan had been Editor at world famous magazine, Shoot for four years, and both of our sports journalism backgrounds meant our phones were full of useful contacts.

One area we hadn’t discussed as a potential gold mine was my football ‘career’. It was a journey which had seen me start as a promising centre midfielder with a ‘good engine’, to a slightly overweight left-back who was described as a ‘trier’ by the manager. But it turns out that failed county league adventure paved the way for a very exciting partnership for OTP Media.

Step in Gary Pleece – owner of successful Brighton-based marketing agency, Pleece & Co. Gary and I met at an event his company were organising for a local restaurant. Had I tagged along for the free drinks and canapés? Possibly. But let’s not dwell on the details. It just so happens that Gary founded Montpelier Villa FC – the club I was chugging up and down the left side for on a Saturday. So, after a few glasses of Prosecco and some beautiful smoked salmon canapés, we started to really hit it off!

Following a few meetings (at a Brighton pub during World Cup games), we realised that it would be great to collaborate on projects. Pleece & Co excelled in the sporting arena during their nine years working with Sussex County Cricket Club of which the below video was part of an award-winning marketing campaign.

Gary’s just as delighted as Jose Mourinho was on landing Alexis Sanchez in January (hopefully this relationship and our performances don’t go quite as downhill). 

Sport has always been a big part of my life and a big passion of mine“, he said. “The work we did with Sussex County Cricket Club for nine years was a real honour and it would be a pleasure to take on more sports based projects. Dan and Sam share my passion for sport with great knowledge and an range of contacts. Working with them is a no brainer!

Matching Lewis Hamilton for speed off the start line, we’re already collaborating on a number of interesting projects. If nothing more, my struggles in striving for a Step 7 football career looks to finally be paying off!

When David left Harrow School in 1988, he had to decide on whether to pursue a career in cricket with Somerset who had offered him a contract or a professional career in the property sector with Clive Lewis & Partners.
